Corrosion testing is fundamental to understanding how materials perform under simulated service conditions and can help to ensure that they will reach their projected design life. Corrosion testing is sought across a range of industries for a variety of applications.
A well-designed materials selection and corrosion testing program is key to ascertaining the suitability of materials for their intended service environments.
Testing of various materials used in industrial applications is required to verify conformation to quality standards. THE SALT SPRAY TEST
A test that simulates an environment in which a product rusts quickly.
The salt spray test is the most commonly used corrosion test for metals with or without an organic or inorganic coating.
Three variants of the salt spray test: the neutral salt spray test, acetic salt spray test and the copper acetic acid salt spray test.
The duration of the test depends on the wishes of the application.
There are several standards that describe the salt spray test. The most famous are NEN EN ISO 9227 , ASTM B117 and DIN 50021.

XENON ARC RAPID WEATHERING TEST
The most reliable test to simulate the years of influence of sunlight and moisture on your product at an accelerated pace.
The Xenon Arc test is a weathering test and is used to check the resistance to (sun) light, moisture and heat.
We perform the Xenon Arc test in standard ISO 4892-2, for coatings this is ISO 16474-2. For leather and textiles, we generally apply ISO 4892-2 ISO 105-B02, ISO 105-B04 and many ASTM standards.

CYCLIC CORROSION TEST
A test that simulates an environment in which a product rusts quickly.
The cyclic corrosion test measures resistance to corrosion, moisture and heat. Sometimes also UV light and cold.
Some tests also use a phase with UV exposure followed by exposure to a temperature of -20°C.
We run two cyclic tests as standard: SAE J2334, (automotive industry) Cyclic test according to ISO 12944-9 and NORSOK (Offshore applications).

QUV TEST
A test that simulates the years of influence of sun and moisture in a few weeks.
With the QUV test, you can check, according to ISO standards, to what extent your product is resistant to sunlight, heat and moisture.
The QUV test is intended for: coatings on all possible surfaces and plastic surfaces with or without coating.
We perform the QUV test according to the quality standard ISO 4892-3 and NEN-ISO 16474, both with UVA lamps. We can also test according to other ISO and ASTM standards on request.

TABER ABRASIVE TEST
This test is the worldwide standard for mapping the wear resistance of your material.
The Taber Abraser test is suitable for testing the wear resistance of any type of material and coating.
We set the Taber Abraser device separately for each type of material, depending on the ultimate use of the material.
This test complies with almost all international standards, such as ASTM D 4060, EN 13329 and EN 16511.

TABER FALLING SAND TEST
A test that tells whether your product can withstand wear from sand or other abrasive agents.
The test measures the resistance of material surfaces to abrasion by sand or other abrasive agents.
The Taber falling sand test can be performed according to ASTM D154, ASTM D333, ASTM D968, ASTM D2205, ASTM D3794, Federal Test Method Std. no. 141 – Method 6191, Ford WSS-M4G318A, GME 60400, GMW 15487.

THICKNESS MEASURE TEST
The ideal instrument to accurately measure the layer thickness of a galvanic coating.
With our standardized coulometric layer thickness measurement we measure the thickness of a galvanic coating to an accuracy of 0.1 µm.
To measure the thickness of the galvanic layer, we use a couloscope.We carry out the coulometric layer thickness measurement in accordance with ISO 2177.

CHEMICAL RESISTANCE TEST
A test that measures the influence of chemicals on your product.
This test measures the resistance to chemicals, it is intended for products that come into contact with chemical liquids.
The duration of the test depends on your wishes. ISO 12944 prescribes a test duration of 168 hours for corrosion class C5i .
We perform the dip test according to ISO 2812. This test is part of ISO 12944.

VAPOR TEST
A quick way to test whether your product is resistant to water vapor.
Our standardized vapor test quickly provides insight into the extent to which your product is resistant to rain, dew or other moisture. We place your product in a room where the temperature is 40°C and where the humidity is 100%.
The vapor test is suitable for all surfaces. We perform the vapor test standard according to ISO 6270 and DIN 50017. This test is part of ISO 12944.

IMMERSION TEST
A test that measures how your product behaves under water or in extremely humid conditions.
This test is a perfect way to provide insight into the extent to which your product can withstand this.We place your product in a bath with demineralized water at 40°C for a predetermined time.
We perform the immersion test in accordance with ISO 2812. This test is part of ISO 12944, among other things.

CATHODIC DISBONDMENT TEST
A test according to ISO 12944-9 for coatings in the high tide line (splash zone).
By means of a sacrificial anode or a current imprint system, the anode potential of the steel is reduced to such an extent that corrosion no longer occurs.
Three panels of 150×75 mm are, as described in ISO 12944-9, provided with a hole with a diameter of 6 mm.

KESTERNICHT TEST
A test to determine the resistance of materials to industrial climate / acid rain.
Our standardized vapor test quickly provides insight into the extent to which your product is resistant to industrial climate and/or acid rain.
We can carry out the keternicht test in accordance with the following standards: ISO 3231, ISO 22479, ASTM G87 Annex 4, DIN 50018 and ISO 6988.

GLOSS AND COLOR MEASUREMENT
A method to provide insight into color and gloss deviations.
With a digital color measurement according to ISO 11664 you can measure a color difference and you can demonstrate exactly whether or not a product meets the specifications.
The test is carried out in our lab according to ISO 11664 and complies with the CIELAB standard. CIELAB is a three-dimensional color grading system.

MACHU TEST
The fastest way to gain insight into the corrosion resistance of your product.
This gives you an initial indication of the quality of your product within two to four days.
This machu test is suitable for: metal surfaces with a coating and metallic surfaces without coating.
We make a scratch of exactly 1 mm wide on the test panel. We then immerse the panel, at a constant temperature, in a bath with a mixture of demineralized water, sodium chloride and hydrogen peroxide

MICROSCOPIC ANALYSIS
An accurate method to determine the cause of (paint) problems.
With a microscopic analysis we investigate the cause of surface disturbances and we provide insight into the layer structure of a paint system.
We do one of the following analyses: analysis from above and cross-sectional analysis.
The test is not performed according to certain standards and it lasts three days. It is a visual aid for quality problems.

PULL-OFF ADHESION TEST
An effective method to measure the adhesion of thick coatings.
We typically use this test to determine the adhesion of coatings thicker than 250 microns.The parts to be tested are placed in a 300 liter climate chamber.
We perform this test in accordance with ISO 4624, ASTM 4541 (on steel) and ASTM D7234 (on concrete).

MECHANICAL TESTS
Quick clarity about wear, scratch resistance, adhesion, layer thickness and elasticity of your product.
Our mechanical tests: buchholz hardness test, cylindrical bend test, conical bend test, coating thickness measurement, pencil hardness and diamond test.
After completing the test, you will receive a report with the results within five working days (if desired).

DIAMOND TEST
A test to determine the adhesion of paint and coatings to a substrate.
The diamond test provides direct insight into how strongly a paint or coating is adhered to its substrate.
During the checkered test, a checkered pattern is applied in the coating to be measured.
The test gives immediate results. We carry out the diamond test in accordance with ISO 2409 or ASTM D3359.

APPROVALS ISO 12944
ISO 12944 is the industry standard for corrosion protection of steel structures using protective coatings.
This certification deals with the protection of steel structures with organic coatings that cure at room temperature. Coatings – such as powder coatings – that are cured at an elevated temperature are outside the scope.
These tests depend, among other things, on the corrosivity class and durability range.

Which test do we need?
We perform tests according to fixed, standardized procedures. That is why we do not just carry out tests, but help you in choosing a specific test. These are laid down in ISO, ASTM standards. This ensures that conditions during the test are always set within certain limits, so that results from different tests can always be compared with each other.
